Our Story

Eku Skincare didn’t begin as a brand. It began with a memory — and a question that stayed long after childhood ended.

In 1992, our founder spent time in her grandmother’s village in Nigeria, watching her create traditional African black soap by hand using raw ingredients. At the time, it felt simple — almost ordinary — something she didn’t yet understand.

Years later, while struggling with dry skin and products that never truly worked for her skin type and tone, that memory returned. What once felt “old-fashioned” suddenly felt intentional.

Rooted in a true “Farm to Face” philosophy, Eku works directly with farmers around Africa to source natural ingredients at their origin, supporting the communities behind every harvest. Ingredients are kept as close to their natural state as possible, carefully avoiding unnecessary refinement so their nutrients and benefits remain intact.

Every formula is designed to feel simple and effective — created for all skin tones and for people who value skincare that doesn’t overpromise or overcomplicate.

Even the details reflect that same belief: minimal earthy packaging and a zero-waste mindset that keeps everything intentional. For us, true respect for the land means leaving nothing behind. We actively seek to upcycle plant leftovers—like using plantain skin for our cleansers and shea-nut shells for our body scrubs—to turn what would be waste into premium care.

It is skincare that doesn't overpromise or overcomplicate, remaining deeply rooted in where it all began.

Now based in the UK, Eku is stepping into a new chapter — bringing the richness of Africa’s natural ingredients to a wider audience while staying rooted in where it all began.

And that place still carries a name.

Our Zero-Waste Journey

At Ekuskincare, we believe caring for your skin should go hand in hand with caring for the planet.

Guided by zero-waste principles, we make thoughtful choices throughout every stage of our process — from sourcing our ingredients to designing our packaging. From our bottles and boxes to our printed materials, we aim to reduce unnecessary waste and create products with purpose, always striving for a lighter footprint on the environment.

Nature Knows Best

The skin already knows how to care for itself. It responds naturally to ingredients that come from the earth — rich in vitamins, antioxidants, and nutrients that support balance, repair, and protection without forcing the skin into reaction.

But when formulas become overly processed and stripped of their natural form, something gets lost along the way — the connection between what the skin needs and what it receives.

Natural ingredients keep that connection intact, working with the skin instead of against it. And that is what we believe in at Eku.
